BIO

Actress. Singer. Songwriter. Experiential Performance Artist.

Celia Spero is a genre-defying artist raised on the suburban edges of New York City. Tenacious and unapologetically authentic, Celia’s creative work refuses to sit quietly in any box. Her performances are raw, evocative, and often provocative, yet always grounded in truth.

As an actress, Celia is best known for her roles in Good Thing Going (2021), Macabre Mountain (2023), Screamwalkers (2024), and the upcoming Crimzon Harvest. Her portrayal in Good Thing Going earned her the LAFA Award for Best Actress. On stage, she has embodied complex roles including Jane Hopcroft in the dark British comedy Absurd Person Singular, Mimi in Rent, and Martha in Spring Awakening.

She is a graduate of the Maggie Flanigan Studio’s two-year conservatory program in NYC, where she studied the Meisner technique and developed a deep commitment to emotional truth in performance.

As a singer-songwriter, Celia’s music delves into the vulnerable and the visceral. With a classically trained voice and a flair for sonic storytelling, her performances move fluidly between soft intimacy and electric unpredictability. At a young age she began writing and performing under the psuedonym Vaeda Black. Her original track "Cigs" f/t Saverio has earned over 1.1 million streams, and she was voted one of Buzznet’s “5 Female Powerhouse Artists to Watch.” An audition of her original song "Drunken Tears" landed her a Golden Ticket to Hollywood on American Idol.

She has performed at iconic venues including Rockwood Music Hall, Arlene’s Grocery, the Knitting Factory, and at the NAMM Convention in Los Angeles.

Celia brings the same magnetism to the stage as frontwoman of bands Candy Riot and Baby & the Tramps, as she does headlining a sultry night of jazz and burlesque at Sophia’s Cabaret, an exclusive, invite only underground speakeasy.

She has collaborated with greats like Emmy-winning choreographer AC Ciulla on her music video for Suicide Love, and shared scenes on screen with indie horror icons Felissa Rose & Robert Mukes.

Whether on screen, on stage, or through her immersive performance art, Celia’s work is emotionally fearless and constantly evolving.
